Motor
Monitoring
Carlo
Gavazzi offers a number of powerful solutions for monitoring motors,
pumps, and compressors. To monitor load on a motor, traditionally,
we monitor the current. However, in some applications where it
is necessary to monitor small changes in load, it is better to
monitor the actual power draw of the motor since this is proportional
to the actual load on the motor.
Our power quality products are capable of monitoring current,
power, power factor giving the user more options for load monitoring
applications. In addition, you can also monitor the voltage giving
protection against under voltage.
With our WM3-96 power quality monitor, any of the above variables
can be assigned to a digital output allowing the motor to be shut
off in case of overload or under voltage. Furthermore, a storage
module can be added allowing any overloads that do occur to be
stored for later viewing. To monitor a group of motors, a number
of WM3's or SPT-90 tranducers can be linked to a PLC using RS485
or 4-20 mA current signals.
